What is love?

Maybe someday I will be able to tell the writers of television shows what love really is.  After nearly six years of marriage, it is walking into your bathroom at night and finding this:

And still choosing to say "I love you."

My big announcement.

Alright everyone are you ready? I am done watching my Korean Television show!  But guess what?  I stopped watching around episode 10, and I intentionally didn't even finish my beloved program.  My time invested into this program was tragically cut short.  You see, this woman had two men madly in love with her. The suspense was building, and suddenly the (good guy, the one with admiral qualities) turns to her and says "you should do what your heart is telling you."  Right then and there, a great sense of foreboding doom washed over me.  Usually, when people "listen to what their heart tells them to do" they do something really stupid. So, I did something unthinkable:  I read the end of the story. I decided that it wasn't worth any more emotional investment if it wasn't going to turn out good in the end. And I am glad I did, because my instinct was correct, in the end, she chooses the dufass. Or at least, in my humble opinion he was a dufass. The other guy was much better in every way. I felt like I wanted to throw something at the writers of the show.  I am thankful that they created something that was so witty, and refreshingly "clean,"  but am so sorry that they had to end it in such a wasted tragedy of a romance.

But all in all, there were so many delightful traits in this program that I decided to not give up on Korean entertainment.  I might get lost in another show, and loose who I am and forget to feed my children soon.  Okay I won't forget to feed them because I will probably watch the show after everyone in my house has gone to sleep. So, if Isaiah wakes up in the night and calls you because he can't find me and he is worried, please tell him I am in the office watching a show.  But for now I am back blogging here!

Meet Tim

Meet Tim and Helen!  Isaiah has been care giving for Tim for the past three years and they have become our good friends. Jedidiah, not pictured, loves visiting with Tim. I am sure Matheson does too but he does not verbalize it in an intelligible way.  We were really happy for Tim this day because he was showing us his new wheelchair, which enables him to see at eye level with other people, which is probably a real blessing to him.

A little delight!

Our dear little on last fall.  This was in our neighbor's yard, where he was enjoying snuggling in her beautiful handmade shawl and we were eating apples off her tree.  Apples are not pictured here, just baby.  I know it sounds Cliche but it is hard to believe how much he has grown in such a short time.  He was so little we were concerned he wasn't going to make it at first  but now he is fitting into his three year old brother's clothes and pushing chairs all over the house saying "Uh-oh" and other words that are so funny, but only if you hear them in person so I am not even going to try to type it. What a little delight!

Okay here is the post

I deleted the first post because I wan't sure if it was accurate, and it wasn't.  The true story is actually funnier than the story I exaggerated.

Last night at the dinner table Isaiah stood up and announced that he was going to take Jedidiah to Jerry's (similar to Home Depot).  This was much to our youngsters delight, as it is his favorite store.  When asked, "Do you want to go to Jerry's Jedidiah?" He exclaims loudly, "Yes, please, I DO want to go to Jerry's!"

On the way to the car Isaiah told Jedidiah that after going to Jerry's he would take him to McDonald's to get ice cream.   Jedidiah's immediate response was, "And feed the goats too?" Isaiah felt a little baffled by his response but they just proceeded on their journey.  Then they got in the car and went to Jerry's.  On the way home, Isaiah pulled into the McDonalds and said "Hey, we are at McDonalds, what do you want?"  Jedidiah responded with "How about a cow?"  Now, he is not one to make up silly stories, at least yet.  Isaiah was confused.  He said "Do you want Ice Cream?"  He said, "Yes please, and I want a cow."

Meanwhile I was fast asleep at home, and my littlest one was sleeping next to me on our bed.  I heard lots of commotion and I stumbled out of my room and into the garage, where my men were staring at the ceiling. Lo and behold, the thing of great majesty and wonder was dangling from our ceiling: A new florescent light! Jedidiah was glowing with joy.  He pointed at it and over and over again said "Oooh look!  Its soooo pretty!" I am pretty sure my husband was just as excited.

I then asked him, "What did you do with papa?"  His response:  "I went to Jerry's and bought batteries and lights and bought ice cream from Old MacDonald's Farm!"  So the mystery was solved.  Now we know why he wanted to buy a cow from McDonalds. I guess this tells you how often we go there!

More Wintry delights

Frosty morning.

Friday, January 4, 2013

Yea, Lord, we greet thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to thee be glory given;
word of the Father, now in flesh appearing:
O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.
I love the words "Born this happy morning!"

These photos probably make our Christmas decor look more lofty and glamorous than it did in real life.  But they are fun pictures! We are sadly going to take it all down tomorrow:(  Thankfully, the beauty of the holiday is only a reflection of something of much greater significance, which will endure through the changing of seasons and through life's joys and sorrows and through eternity.

Kindle?

Something I really don't get is the Kindle.  Why do people want to read a book on a computer?  It seems as though we are constantly bombarded with computer.  When I think about reading a book, I imagine being absorbed into the book, in a restful place far away from glowing screens. I imagine the joy of being able to turn its pages, and to hold it in my hands as I enjoy someone else's craftsmanship.  What about doodling on the pages?  Or being able to underline things in it, or hold things in it like a leaf or a love letter? And then, after I have read it and it has crease marks on it and little notes and doodles and I can earnestly say this is MY book, I can then put it on a display shelf because when guests come over they will know I am the proud owner/reader of this particular book and it its story was significant to me, it changed my understanding of the world. It gave us something to talk about.  Maybe even my children will find it one day.   Maybe they will hold it in their hands and find that love letter and laugh embarrassingly about it, but secretly be so happy to understand a little piece of their parent's love for each other.    Now, how can you do that with a kindle?

This isn't to say I have much time to read.  I am lucky if I can get a book a year read, but I just see kindles and I wonder, what are we missing out on with them?
